Amazing book that brings you closer to the truth and God.
I really love Giussani's emphatic suggestion that to understand God / the Mystery at work in our lives we have to live intensely our real lives. How many times I have discovered this to be true - forcing my gaze / conscious awareness away from my imaginings to what is really alive in front of my eyes and how many times I have then discovered that life is a miracle, a gift
This book changed my life. I cannot wait to read At the Origin of the Christian Claim and Why the Church! The only warning I would give is that Giussani, while incredibly sound philosophically, uses a vocabulary that most people are not familiar with and it can be difficult to stay engaged if you have to look up words every other paragraph.

This book has the excitement of a novel existential investigation, assuming nothing, starting from scratch; the wisdom of a true guide who never leaves your side but never stops questioning and challenging you, the reader; the scope, depth, and world culture of the best and well-read scholars; the rush of ground-breaking existential discoveries in the greatest questions of life for post-modern man; the method which requires you to refrain from abstractions and use your own experience to understand it; and most importantly, the hint of an answer, and a people waiting for you all along.

Don't expect The Hunger Games writing style. The first 3 chapters are very dense but hang in there, they offer an "introduction to realism" that is the foundation for anything else we can talk about or know to be true (especially about ourselves). It's best to read it with friends if possible.
