This short book was interesting and well written, but I felt the description was misleading. The story was also unsatisfying with over half the book passing before the male lead appears. Sort of Spoiler...aka better description/blurbDianna heads to Montana seeking love and adventure. When her intended proves to be a violent drunkard, she flees into the woods and straight into the arms of a sexy Native.
It was a decent read, but I doubt I would have read it had the descriptor been accurate. I love all the farm/ranch details of historical westerns. Not my cup of tea.

Dianna A Historical Western Romance The Brittler Sisters Book 1 edition by Josephine Blake Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What a strange story. I made myself finish it but I was skimming the pages after the leading man, who couldn’t speak English was doing a great job communicating within 2 weeks. The first characters Dianna encounters when arriving in Wyoming were described as men you would see in any comedy western, I should have stopped reading right then.
This story is a quick k read of a mail order bride story that has a few twists that makes it different from the norm. Rich girl goes to the wilderness and finds nothing like she expected. Her fiance has a bad drinking problem that causes Dianna to end up with a Indian brave Shiye . This story shows the adventure s that this couple lives through.
As a debut novel for Ms. Blake, this was a fun and enjoyable read. Dianna is the eldest daughter of four to a wealthy couple on the East coast. She seeks adventure, and thus, decides to take a chance as a mail order bride, in the western world. Although, the intended groom did not turn out to be the man she thought him to be. He drank excessively. In one of his drinking spells, took his anger and frustration out on Dianna physically. Although beaten, she was able to escape. A Native American man finds her unconscious and takes her to a cave. He attends her physical wounds and cares for for her until she is completely recovered. Keep in mind, during this time, neither one of them are able to speak each other's language. She devises a plan in which to communicate with him. This man is scorned himself and is hiding from his people; as he was accused of committing a crime, he was innocent of. In lies the development of a beautiful love story that comes to fruition.
This was the first book I read by Ms. Blake. Although, the story was short, I found it to be very entertaining. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book, if you enjoy a light, fast paced and sweet historical love story.
This book really held my interest. Well thought out and written. It shows that no matter the circumstances, with fortitude and determination, obstacles can be overcome. Language barriers can be broken and communication can happen if you really want it to. All in all this is a great read and it holds your interest the entire length of the book. Great job!
This was a delightful, light read. I enjoyed learning about Dianna, and her trials & tribulations. The setting in 1800's Wyoming was a plus. There are breathtaking areas of beautiful country out there.
If I could only send a little note of advice to the author....Stay true to the time period in which you're writing. There was an occasion where you stretched it with some of the dialog. That was livable. But, at the end, you wrote "bump" a couple of times. They never used that word as you intended until just recently. I don't want to spoil anything, but that threw me a curve after enjoying the entire story.
Hence, 4 starts instead of 5. Other than that, I read this book in no time at all. Splendid!
I started reading Dianna today, and I COULD NOT put it down until I finished the very last word!!!!! I truly loved how determined Dianna was. This was a character that I immediately admired for her courage, and determination. Reading this book was such a joy. The characters are so well developed, and the authors ability to capture my total imagination, making me feel as though I was right there experiencing the emotions this young woman was going through. It was filled with fast paced action, set in a beautiful location. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a adventure, and a beautifully written love story!! I truly loved Dianna's story, and I am hoping for more great romance, and adventure from this FABULOUS Author. Thank You Josephine Blake!!!! Dianna is DEFINITELY a MUST READ!!!!!!
I'm always hesitant to read a book by a new author, but this was a pleasant surprise. The book is well-written, the story-line is solid, and the story itself is exciting with suspense and romance. I found it difficult to find a place to stop for the night, as I just had to see what would happen next. The book is a good length and will hold your interest through out. Often I skip over paragraphs in books that don't move the story forward. I read every word of this book, there were no sentences that didn't move the story forward. There are characters to love and some to hate too. Dianna is a mail order bride whose venture didn't turn out as she expected. The story was unique. I read a lot of books of the genre but this story was different and pleasantly so. The scenes are so descriptive that you feel as though you are right there. During a snow storm I actually grabbed an afghan. I highly recommend this book. You'll love it.
