Utopianesque. Bringing down the government. NA. Rh. 4 guys. Smart, Quirky, Funny heroine. Thessaly is a normal girl just trying to keep her freedom of choice. She's been dodging "suggested" blood draws but as she has witnessed, they are not anyone's choice. And they are after her blood more than anyone's. After dodging the "vampires" at her home, she goes to her bf's house. Where she should be safe but, she's blindfolded and drugged. Waking up, Thessaly finds herself with a group of four guys. All are attractive and all seem to have a pull on her being. They tell her, her name along with theirs was on a scientific governmental list and it wasn't a good thing. The characters have depth all ready and you are just meeting them. This is an excellent first book in the series. Only problem I had was if felt more like a YA , their reactions where based more on emotion than logic. Other than that I really liked it and look forward to reading the next one.Tags : Perfect: A Reverse Harem Romance (Her Reverse Genus Book 1) - Kindle edition by Adell Ryan. Perfect A Reverse Harem Romance Her Reverse Genus Book 1 eBook Adell Ryan Reviews
I when I reach for a book sci-fi is not normally my first grab however this book I could not put this book down! Thessaly and the guys an totally enthralling from beginning to end, they kept me on the edge of my seat. They ideas for this future presented are plausible and we could definitely head that way as a society and we could end up in a similar situation. While adding elements of danger and intrigue the start of this series will leave you wanting more without an infuriating cliffhanger. RH. Medium burn.
This was a new rh scifi that caught me by its blurb. It was something I was fond of nowadays.
Set in the future, or what could have been in the future, Perfect was easily light on the science and more into Thess and her four guys. That was not to say that the science behind wasn't explored. But I think more of that would be on the next book instead.
So the first half was great but I kept being distracted so I very much preferred the second half. It felt like it picked up more on that esp during their stay in Robbie's establishment.
The story, at least for now, was pretty simple. Very easy to read and had a neat writing style. This was my first read from the author so I would very much like to expore her other works, if ever.
All in all, I think it was great and would def read book 2.
I have a lot of problems with this book.
One, I can't feel anything from reading this even the romance part. It all fell flat to me. All of it bored the hell out of me that I skipped almost all parts that I deemed unnecessary. I just want to know the end since I already bought this.
The characters feel very 1D to me. They don't feel human or people just like vague descriptions and surreal characteristics and personality. Even when the part that the Dad got badly injured and the Mom got kidnapped, I don't feel sympathetic to the FMC since in the book there is no or too little interaction with the parents. So even if they got in danger I don't give that much fvck about it. I don't feel sad or anything.
The RH part feels very off and not genuine or natural even. I don't feel any romance from it and it felt force or too cliche for me. Even if there were mentioned of jealousy, it still doesn't contribute much on the premise of RH. The group dynamics in general is very off too. I just can't like this as an RH not even for an average romance book.
The whole plot is very bizarre that I did not even buy it. The setting is in future but I still find it very hard to imagine since the world building is very weak. There are also lots of plot holes. There is still no clue left why she was being targeted by this woman villain. The author just throws lots of jargons to make it look like sci-fi but there are lots of unanswered question not even clues so the readers can formulate theories.
One major plot hole is the fact that they were running away from the government system without having solid proof that there's really something going on regarding with this DNA. They just went off just because they have this "feeling" or theory that the FMC will be an experiment just because she was red-flagged. It's like their bunch of conspiracists that formulate these scenarios against a system without a solid proof or even prior victims. There is nothing to backup them being in real danger.
More than 70% of books are mundane stuff. The only exciting part is the kidnapping and after that it all went downhill.
In general, I don't like this book and it's very boring for me. I will not read the next book because I can't torture myself on to reading something that's not exciting at all. I don't even care what will happen to them. I read far more great contemporary RH than this and I'd rather reread them than continue reading this.
I was provided and advanced copy of the novel by the author. Reverse Harem is still pretty new to me, but SF and dystopian are not. This is a story of an overreaching, intrusive government forcing its way into people;s lives and one girl's fight to maintain her right to self determination.
The first thing I will say is that f you're looking for SF but are apprehensive about the RH aspects, then don't be. While the RH is there it is not gratuitous and is blended very well into the storyline, providing solid reasoning behind the actions and intentions of the characters, all of whom are rounded, well developed, and distinct, with each character getting their time in the spotlight through their individual pints of view as the story progresses..
For a newbie author, Adell Ryan has done a marvelous job of producing a story that is engaging and entertaining and that pulls you along for the ride. Hopefully the next installment continues in this vein and I, for one, am eagerly awaiting the continuation of this story.
